2017年吉利全资收购太力（Terrafugia），目前太力第一代飞行汽车Transition已经开始在美国市场接受预定，预计在2019年在美国交付并上市，后期会逐步发展到欧洲，而是否会在中国市场发展，还要视情况而定。吉利方面告诉天天在线记者，之所以不在国内发展飞行汽车的原因在于，美国市场潜力巨大且进入美国市场的政策环境阻力最小。在国内，由于各项法规还有待完善，以及低空领域开放等问题，还在积极和有关部门一起研究解决方案。

飞行器和汽车需要通过不同的合法使用规范，需要解决的问题首先是填补交通法规上的空白，在美国，飞行汽车需要同时通过道路法规和航空法规，而在两个法规之间的不可调部分，将会获得各自领域的法规豁免。比如车窗部分的材料选择上，就得到了联邦机动车安全标准 (FMVSS) 的豁免。其次，如何降低使用成本和购买成本，也是一大难点。“如果成本依然很高，飞行汽车依旧只是少数人的奢侈玩具，无法从根本上解决交通出行的普遍刚需。”吉利方面表示。
