TOYOTA's latest flying vehicle patent: hub as a "helicopter" propeller

Recently, foreign media Autoguide reported the latest technology patents obtained by Toyota, showing the company's ambitions for future flying cars. In the patent filed by Toyota's North American Engineering and Manufacturing (TEMA), an amphibious ground-to-air vehicle with tires that can be switched between land and flight modes is described.

When the vehicle is switched from land mode to flight mode, the mechanical arm of the tire extends outward and the wheel starts to rotate at high speed. Then it rotates like a helicopter rotor to generate enough lift to give the car the ability to fly.
