2006年，美国马萨诸塞州，五名来自麻省理工学院的毕业生创立了Terrafugia飞行汽车公司，公司初创的资金基本都来自于创始人的奖学金。Terrafugia在2009年就推出了首款飞行汽车——Transition，这款飞行汽车从诞生起，经过了多次迭代和吉利技术的加持，终于要在明年上市了。

Transition前后一共经历了五轮融资，2017年7月，中国吉利集团全资收购了Terrafugia公司，并且给予他们更多的技术支持，吉利自从收购沃尔沃之后，就开始了疯狂买买买模式。其实在Transition于09年推出之后，Terrafugia公司还推出了两款不同造型设计的飞行汽车TF-X，这款飞行汽车采用了4座位的设计，同样拥有折叠的机翼。

TF-X的最高时速可达322km/h，续航里程为805km，最重要的是，它支持垂直起降，完全不需要跑道。不过TF-X的定位略高，Terrafugia表示其售价将会超过大部分豪华汽车，预计将有8-12年的研发时间，目前我们是很难看到这款更先进的飞行汽车了。

Five college students in the United States start the road of flight and Entrepreneurship

In 2006, five MIT graduates founded Terrafugia Flying Car Company in Massachusetts, USA. The founder's scholarship funded the start-up of the company. Terrafugia launched its first flying car, Transition, in 2009, which has been on the market for the next year after several iterations and augmented by Geely technology.

Transition has gone through five rounds of financing. In July 2017, Geely Group of China bought Terrafugia and gave them more technical support. Geely has been buying Volvo like crazy since it bought Volvo. In fact, after Transition was launched in 2009, Terrafugia also launched two different design flying cars, the TF-X, which uses a four-seat design and also has folded wings.

The TF-X has a maximum speed of 322 km/h and a range of 805 km/h. Most importantly, it supports vertical takeoff and landing and does not require a runway at all.
