According to foreign media reports, Boeing's flying car made its first test flight at an airport in Manassas, Virginia, and made a soft landing less than a minute after flying a few feet above the ground.
Boeing said the prototype was 30 feet long, partly helicopters and partly unmanned aerial vehicles. Boeing's goal in developing flying cars is to improve the efficiency of urban transportation and express delivery services. Boeing hopes to develop two different types of air vehicles, two and four passengers, with flying miles of up to 50 miles.

Boeing said it was working with Spark Cognition, a startup, and the Federal Aviation Administration to develop a three-dimensional highway traffic management system and a regulatory framework that would allow self-driving vehicles to travel safely around buildings. Boeing bought Aurora Flight last year to speed up the development of autonomous aircraft.
