Boeing is also working with startup Spark Cognition and the Federal Aviation Administration to develop a traffic management system for 3D highways, as well as a regulatory framework that allows a large number of driverless vehicles to travel safely around buildings. Boeing bought Aurora Flight Sciences last year to speed up the development of unmanned aerial vehicles. The company is also working with Uber's UberAIR service and plans to provide "flying" services via smartphones around 2023. According to reports, Boeing's purpose in developing flying cars is to improve the efficiency of urban transportation and express delivery services.
