The founder and CEO of Opener is Marcus Leng, who graduated from the Department of mechanical engineering of University of Toronto. In October 2011, Marcus Leng conducted manned tests on the first fixed-wing pure electric vertical takeoff and landing helicopter in Canada, then relocated the company center to Silicon Valley, named Opener.

Opener recently exposed the Blackfly flying car prototype, known as "the world's first ultra-light pure electric fixed-wing vertical takeoff and landing aircraft". It is powered by pure electric power. The batteries on the two wings provide power for eight propulsion systems, each with a range of about 25 miles (40 kilometers) and a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Opener is working on charging piles that can charge Blackfly in 30 minutes to integrate its flying cars into the city commuter network, and has completed more than 1,400 flights and 1,312 kilometers of continuous testing. Blackfly positioning is also a private market.
