9月11日报道英国一家垂直航天器初创企业Vertical Aerospace推出了首款电动垂直起降（eVTOL）飞行出租车。公司希望可能会彻底改变短途飞行方式，并减少碳排放。

据悉，该款飞行器拥有的垂直起降技术，可使它准确前往不同地点。配有四个旋翼，可以搭载2到4名乘客，飞行距离为93英里（约合150公里）能以最快每小时80千米的速度飞行5分钟。

Vertical Aerospace表示，最终的成型产品将与原型机存在很大区别。公司也制定了不同阶段的产品目标。第一阶段的飞行汽车预计可以飞行100公里到150公里，满足从伦敦到布里斯托尔或从格拉斯哥到阿伯丁郡的距离。第二阶段，飞行汽车的续航能力在第一阶段的基础上提升一倍。第三阶段，将产品打造成能够实现无人驾驶的飞行汽车。

Britain's first electric vertical takeoff and landing Taxi: speed of 80km 4 years after service

September 11 Vertical Aerospace, a British vertical spacecraft startup, launched its first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) taxi. The company hopes to revolutionize short haul flights and reduce carbon emissions.

It is reported that the aircraft's vertical take-off and landing technology enables it to go to different locations accurately. Equipped with four rotors, it can carry two to four passengers, flying 93 miles (about 150 kilometers) for five minutes at the fastest speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

Vertical Aerospace indicates that the final molding product will be very different from the prototype. The company has also made product targets at different stages. The first stage of the flight car is expected to fly 100 to 150 kilometers to meet the distance from London to Bristol or Glasgow to Aberdeen. In the second stage, the endurance capacity of the flying car is doubled on the basis of the first stage. The third stage is to build the product into a self driving flying car.

Vertical Aerospace is currently competing with Uber, German startup Lilium, Airbus and Rolls-Royce. Vertical Aerospace plans to launch "air taxi" services for specific intercity routes within four years, such as Bristol to London, Sheffield to Liverpool.

Flying cars are also new markets competing by many companies. Volkswagen's Audi brand entered the field earlier, with Audi showing off the Po. Up concept car developed by Audi's Italian Design Office and Airbus in 2017.
