Media reports said on Wednesday that Boeing's prototype flying car briefly circled in the air during its first test flight. As the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, this is a small but significant step to radically change urban transport and package distribution services. Boeing said the prototype made a soft landing less than a minute after staying a few feet above the ground.
It is understood that Boeing acquired Aurora Flight Science last year to accelerate the development of autonomous aircraft. Boeing is also working with Aurora to provide UberAIR services for flights scheduled to be booked via smartphones around 2023. Boeing is competing with its main competitor Airbus and many other companies to launch small autonomous aircraft capable of taking off and landing vertically. These investments could change the landscape of the aerospace industry in the next decade.
Last October, Terrafugia, Geely's flying car maker, announced that it had begun accepting orders and that delivery was expected to begin in 2019. It is reported that the Transition Flying Vehicle is a two-seat product with a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Flight mode and ground mode can be switched in one minute, and the wing can be folded.
Industry insiders said that traffic congestion has become a serious problem facing global cities. Creating new ways of travel and transportation system is the necessary way to solve this problem. In recent years, with the acceleration of technological upgrading, the development of flying cars has ushered in a new situation, including Airbus, Toyota, Uber, Boeing and other giant companies have increased their investment in the development of flying cars. According to the agency, the output value of flying cars will grow to $1 trillion, while the output value of technology-related industries will reach $3 trillion, and there will be unlimited space for future related industry chains.
