这辆车的可拆卸式设计理念估计放在现在也是十分先进的，何况是在70年前。从图中可以看出来飞行汽车实际上就是将一辆小型汽车设计为飞机的机头部分，平时可以在路上愉快的奔跑，想要上天的时候，就可以装上后面的机翼以及螺旋桨，变身为一架小型飞机，整个组装过程可以在5分钟内完成。实际上，罗伯特·富尔顿的这种设计十分超前，但是可能对于当时的人们，即使是现在也太过科幻，将车辆和飞机分离的方式也显得不方便，所以引不起的投资人的兴趣，最终以放弃生产告终。
