In 2019, at the world Intelligent Transportation Conference held in Singapore, volocopter, a German electric taxi research and development company, successfully completed its first manned flight, flew over the Binhai Bay of Singapore, and demonstrated its supporting takeoff and landing infrastructure (voloport). The test uses the latest 2x aircraft of volocopter, with a flight distance of about 1.5km, a flight time of 2:30s and an average cruising altitude of 40m.

In September 2019, volocopter won a total of 50 million euros from leading investment of Geely Holding Group and Daimler Co., Ltd., and Geely and volocopter will set up a joint venture in China to introduce urban air travel to China. Geely Automobile is responsible for the production and marketing of products.
